SettleScape

Rules

Code of Conduct

  1. Always de-escalate.
  2. Do not violate trust.
  3. Avoid logical fallacies.

Griefing Policy

Note that these restrictions apply only to long-lived worlds. Temporary worlds are an absolute free-for-all.

  1. Loot, don't grief – do not ruin for the sake of ruining.
  2. No looting in Towns unless they are marked as ruins, even if you seem to have access. Always explicitly ask for permission.

Nickname Policy

  1. No obscenities. Violators will have their nickname removed, and repeat offenders may permanently lose the ability to set custom nicknames.
  2. Your Discord nickname and your SettleScape nickname should match.

Upstream

These are rules that we have no control over, and that must be followed by all players. SettleScape strictly enforces compliance with these to the best of its ability because it has to, full-stop.

  1. The laws of the United States of America
  2. The laws of the state of Texas, where SettleScape's server is located
  3. Minecraft EULA
  4. Minecraft Usage Guidelines
  5. Minecraft Community Standards

Downstream

In order to avoid running afoul of the above, we have implemented some additional rules:

  • Do not do anything illegal. This includes gambling, which the server has banned in any form, including with in-game items. Committing any illegal offense is very likely to result in a permaban. We have to have zero-tolerance policy for such shenanigans – the operators of SettleScape are not willing to go to jail for your crimes.
  • No in-game leaderboards – not even on signs. Any such signs, if found, will be destroyed and the player who placed them (we have a log of every block placed) will be fined in-game currency.
  • SettleScape has a minimum age limit of 16. You must attest that you are at or above that age in order to play. If you are found to have lied on this attestation, you will be banned, even if you are now above that age. (The legal aspects of allowing child access to the server are just too much for us to handle.)

In order to help ensure we remain on the right side of the law, anyone who reports a previously-unknown-to-the-administion infraction of the above rules will be rewarded with in-game currency should their report prove true. (They will be fined in-game currency if their report proves false.)
